ALWAYS AN ATHLETE, ALWAYS EMPOWERED.

“OMG I can’t believe I just did that!”

One of our favorite things heard in the clinic! That moment when our clients realize they’re able to achieve what they never thought possible. At Empower Physical Therapy & Performance, together we will work hard to meet your goals, whether we are utilizing movement screening and analysis, objective testing, manual therapy, strength training, or developing a new exercise program. Instead of focusing on your impairments, let’s focus on what you are capable of!

 Meet the Team

Hi, I’m Haley.

Through my own injuries as a dancer, my intuitive understanding of the human body, and desire to combine creativity with critical thinking, I was driven to pursue a career in physical therapy. But, I also knew that I wanted to do it differently than I had traditionally seen it done. As a patient, I valued one-on-one care, an individualized treatment plan, and time spent with my therapist — something that many models of physical therapy don’t allow for.

In 2019, I opened Empower Physical Therapy and Performance with the goal of creating a space where clients who were ready to invest in their health could thrive. My unique background in movement, strength and conditioning, manual therapy, yoga, and dance allows me to offer an individualized approach to physical therapy as well as performance coaching.

Today, not only am I able to offer high-quality, one-on-one physical therapy care out of Empower but I also have the privilege of teaching and mentoring within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at MGH Institute of Health Professions as Adjunct Faculty.

Hi, I’m Matt.

My path into physical therapy began through my own experiences with sports-related injuries as a baseball player and wrestler. Starting to formally strength train at 16 years old helped me understand how training could improve my athletic performance and keep me healthier, which ultimately led me to pursue a career in physical therapy.

I combine a clear understanding of each person’s goals and story with my knowledge of strength and conditioning principles to guide the rehabilitation process. I utilize progressive loading and intentional exercise prescription to help clients return to activity with confidence, build resilience, and support long-term health and performance.

Hi, I’m Emily.

Much like my colleagues at Empower, I’ve racked up some injuries through my years as a competitive softball and tackle football athlete. I understand that set-backs are part of every game, AND that every injury is an opportunity to take inventory and build even higher peaks with proper rehabilitation! My perennial hot take is that physical therapy and strength training are like eating your vegetables to get the physical phytonutrients that you need to thrive.
My perspective as a coach also stems from my interest in behavioral psychology. After graduating from Tufts with a BA in Psychology and coaching collegiate softball, I worked as a clinical research coordinator at Boston Children’s Hospital on a clinical trial in the department of neurology. More recently, I have taken courses on brain-based training, pain re-processing and somatic tracking, which has deepened my understanding of the science of pain. This has built a foundation that helps me support Empower clients as they transition from rehab to performance.

My goal when working with our clients is to make strength training fun, accessible, and sustainable. All of these elements help our clients build intrinsic motivation to stay consistent with their programming. The most effective program, after all, is one you’ll stick to! By working with Haley and Matt, we combine high-quality clinical care with continued strength and performance programming to help each and every client meet their goals.
